JUNEAU, Alaska – March 2, 2022— Spread the word! The USDA Forest Service Alaska Region has launched a new Facebook account. Follow along, like the page, and be the first to see the latest agency happenings daily!

Facebook has become omnipresent in many of our lives, but until recently one presence missing on Facebook was that of Alaska’s national forests. That changed recently with the addition of the Alaska-specific Facebook page.

Since many of the Forest Service’s customers and partners live in areas outside of a mass media market, and because many tribal communities are known to use Facebook as their predominate way of receiving and sharing information, getting online using a regional Facebook made sense in so many ways.

The agency’s regional office created the new page in hopes of improving and strengthening communication with tribal communities and other rural Alaska residents.

Agency officials said it is the hope that the online platform will serve as a general information hub for sharing updates on the multi-use nature of the forests and result in increased transparency and trust with all members of the American public in Alaska and throughout the nation.
