Last month, a lack of snowfall prompted Denali National Park to close some of its snowmachine trails, but today the snowfall totals haven’t improved enough, prompting full closures of all the trails.

Here’s the update from the National Park Service:

All Areas of Denali National Park and Preserve are Closed to Snowmobile Use Due to Inadequate Snow Cover

Date: May 14, 2026

The superintendent has determined that there is not adequate snow cover for the use of snowmobiles for traditional activities in the 1980 additions to Denali National Park and Preserve on both sides of the Alaska Range.

All park lands that were open for snowmobile use are now closed for the season.

Riders are reminded that all lands within the former Mount McKinley National Park are permanently closed to all snowmobile use by federal regulation.
