There are a reported 115 wildfires around Alaska, some worse than others. One fire burned down the Aniak River Lodge in Western Alaska. Here’s more from KTVA:

Firefighters are working to contain a 5-acre fire that burned down the Aniak River Lodge and several cabins Tuesday night. The lodge is about 25 miles upriver from the village.

The fire was first reported by the lodge owner. The owner and three employees were the only ones at the lodge when the fire broke out and they were all able to escape to boats in the nearby river.

The Alaska Division of Forestry says a helitack crew from McGrath, eight smokejumpers and aerial resources from Palmer were deployed to fight the fire. By the end of the evening, they had the fire about 60% contained. As of Wednesday morning, 17 people are fighting this fire.
