* Just a reminder to all our anglers, please do your part to help slow the spread of Covid-19 by practicing social distancing while sport and personal use fishing and wearing a face covering when social distancing is not possible and if you are needing fishing supplies from your local store.

This fishing report will be updated when additional information is available. For current seasonal information, please contact the Soldotna office at (907) 262-9368.

Local Lakes

  • A new lake was added to the Kenai Peninsula Lake stocking program. Be sure to try ice fishing at John Hedberg Lake in North Kenai. Information and directions to the lake can be found on the ADF&G Alaska Lakes Database webpage.
  • There are plenty of other local-stocked lakes that provide a nice, quiet winter fishing opportunity in the Soldotna, Kenai, Kasilof, Cooper Landing, and Moose Pass areas.
  • Ice fishing for rainbow trout, Arctic char, and land-locked salmon is good to excellent. Try fishing Johnson, Sport, Scout, Elephant (Spirit), Island, or Swanson River Road lakes.
  • Visit the ADF&G Alaska Lakes Database to view Kenai Peninsula Stocked Lakes Series Brochures that provide directions, stocking information, bathymetric maps, catch, harvest, and effort information.

Emergency Orders

Please review the Emergency Orders and News Releases below in their entirety before heading out on your next fishing trip.

  • Emergency Order 2-NP-1-04-22 prohibits the retention of any species of fish in East Mackey, West Mackey, Sevena, Union, and Derks lakes for the 2022 season.
  • Emergency Order 2-DV-1-03-22 modifies the bag and possession limit of Arctic char/Dolly Varden in Stormy Lake to one fish, less than 16 inches in length for the 2022 season.

As 2021 comes to end, don’t forget to purchase your 2022 sport fishing license! Help maximize social distancing and purchase your 2022 sport fishing license through the ADF&G online store and print it off from the comfort of your own home. Also, make sure to review Emergency Orders and the 2021 Southcentral Sport Fishing Regulations Summary booklet (the 2022 booklet will be available in the spring) for the area you are fishing in before you head out.
