Northern Alaska Peninsula Winter Caribou Hunt Will Open On December 1

Winter Season for NAP Caribou Hunt RC504 Opens December 1

(King Salmon, Alaska) – The Alaska Department of Fish and Game will open the Northern Alaska Peninsula (NAP) caribou hunt (RC504) in that portion of Game Management Unit 9C within the Alagnak River drainage and that portion of Unit 9B south of the south shore of the Kvichak River, Iliamna Lake, Kakhonak River, Kakhonak

Lake, Moose Lake, and south of the south bank of the inlet stream to Moose Lake to its source at the subunit boundary on December 1, 2026. The season will close on March 15, 2027 for Unit 9C and March 31, 2027 for Unit 9B, at 11:59 pm, or when closed by emergency order when the harvest quota is met.

The harvest quota will be determined by fall composition surveys and announced by advisory announcement prior to the season. To participate, hunters must be Alaska residents, possess a valid Alaska state hunting license and a state registration permit (RC504) available at the King Salmon ADF&G office beginning November 17 and in person in Igiugig, Kokhanok, and Levelock on designated days. The bag limit is two caribou; hunters must obtain two RC504 permits in order to harvest two caribou. 

The TC505 permit is not valid for this area.

Successful hunters are required to report to King Salmon ADF&G office (907) 246-3340 within 2 days of harvesting a caribou. All permit reports must be returned to ADF&G, regardless of success, within 15 days of the close of the season.
