Naknek River Three-Fish Daily Limit For Kings; No Bait On Nushagak

The following is courtesy of the Alaska Department of Fish and Wildlife:

(Dillingham) – The following sport fishing regulation changes adopted at the 2026 Bristol Bay Alaska Board of Fisheries meeting are now in effect:

• Naknek River Drainage: For king salmon 20 inches or longer there is a limit of 3 per day, 3 in possession, only 1 of which may be 28 inches or longer. Additionally, there is an annual limit of 5 king salmon 20 inches or longer from the entire drainage, only 2 of which may be 28 inches or longer; and all harvested king salmon 20 inches or longer must be recorded in ink on a valid sport fishing license, a harvest record card, or in the ADF&G Mobile App. For king salmon less than 20 inches, there is a limit of 10 per day, 10 in possession and no annual limit.
• Nushagak River Drainage: the use of bait and multiple hooks is prohibited between May 1 and July 31.

The 2026 Southwest Alaska Sport Fishing Regulation Summary Booklet (printed and online) reflects these new sport fishing regulations. Additionally, anglers should keep in mind that regulations may be modified inseason by emergency order.
