North Tracy Arm Closed to Mountain Goat Hunting in Unit 1C
(Juneau) – Biologists with the Alaska Department of Fish & Game in Douglas announce an early closure to the mountain goat hunting season under the state registration permit hunt RG013, for that portion of Unit 1C bounded by the Whiting River on the north/northwest side, Tracy Arm and the South Sawyer Glacier on the south/southeast, Gilber Creek to the southwest, and the Canadian border on the east (see map below) is closing to mountain goat hunting by emergency order.
The seasonal goat points available in the North Tracy area this year were 9 points (billy = 1 point; nanny = 2 points). As of Sunday, November 23, 2025, all the available points have been harvested in this area with more hunters in the field. The area will be closed by E.O. taking effect at 11:59 pm, Monday, November 24, 2025. Due to the vulnerability of goats in this area and to help preserve this area for future goat hunting opportunities, this hunt will be closed by emergency order.
An Emergency Order (R1-20-20) was issued that closes the mountain goat season in this area on Monday, November 24, 2025 @ 11:59 pm.
The remaining area of registration mountain goat hunt RG013, and all other mountain goat hunting regulations in Unit 1C remain unchanged unless already closed by emergency order.
