Lake George-Area (Unit 14C) Registration Permit Goat Hunt Set To Close

Lake George Mountain Goat Hunt RG869 Closes in Unit 14C

(Anchorage)- Registration permit hunt RG869 for mountain goats in the Lake George area (Unit 14C) will close at 11:59 p.m. on September 29, 2026, by emergency order. To maintain the population objective of at least 500 goats in Unit 14C that will sustain an annual harvest of 25 goats, comprised of at least 60 percent males, harvest from this area should not exceed 21 goat points.

The Lake George area is managed with two separate registration hunts (RG879- bow and arrow only, and RG869) and a drawing hunt for nonresident hunters (DG889). Total goat points are calculated using one point for billies and two points for nannies. Fourteen of the total goat points are allotted for RG869 and RG879. As of September 28, a combined 14 goat points (3 nannies and 8 billies) have been harvested in the RG879 and RG869 hunts, and additional hunters remain in the field. RG879 closed as advertised on August 31.

DG889 is a nonresident drawing permit for goats in this area and the season remains open.
