Feds To Host May 7 Public Hearing To Discuss Kuskokwim River Salmon Management

Public Hearing Announcement on 2026 Kuskokwim River Salmon Management

The Federal Subsistence Board will hold a public hearing to discuss proposed regulation changes to conserve Kuskokwim River Chinook and Chum salmon. The proposed Temporary  Special Action includes gear restrictions and a closure to Chinook and Chum salmon harvest in the Kuskokwim River mainstem and select tributaries effective June 1, 2026 to July 31, 2026. The proposed action for review can be found online at https://www.doi.gov/subsistence/pending-special-actions.

Please call in to the public hearing and share your comments or concerns.

At this time, closures and gear restrictions are being proposed. However, the federal in-season manager will consider announcing gillnet fishing opportunities for federally qualified subsistence users after evaluating conservation needs and consulting with partners.
