Don Young, Alaska’s Sole House Member, Reportedly Has Passed Away At 88

Here’s more information on Rep. Young, who at 88 was the longest-serving Republican in Congress, having held Alaska’s lone seat in the House, where he served 25 terms:

Young’s staff released a statement:

“It’s with heavy hearts and deep sadness that we announce Congressman Don Young (R-AK), the Dean of the House and revered champion for Alaska, passed away today while traveling home to Alaska to be with the state and people that he loved. His beloved wife Anne was by his side.” 

Young was heavily involved in issues regarding Alaska’s fishing and hunting industries. Safari Club International’s Alaska Chapter made a short statement on Facebook:

“We are saddened to hear that our good friend and beloved Congressman Don Young has passed.May he rest In peace.”
