The deadline to comment in support of the Roadless Rule for this comment period is Friday, September 19! The 2001 “Roadless Area Conservation Rule” prohibits the construction of new roads into wild areas of the Tongass, which in many cases serve as critical undisturbed habitat for salmon and wildlife, provide high-quality hunting and fishing opportunities and support the recreation and tourism industries. This map shows what areas are protected as roadless. If you haven’t already, please comment in support of places on the map that you use, and consider supporting Roadless protections.
