Body Of Missing Paddleboarder Found In Turnagin Arm

Sad report from the Anchorage Daily News, as the body of a paddle boarder who went missing from Turnagain Arm has been found. Here are some details on the death of Anchorage resident Joshua Novakovich:

Troopers were notified Friday that a male paddleboarder was being swept away in Turnagain Arm near Mile 92 of the Seward Highway, according to an online statementposted Monday.

The Girdwood Volunteer Fire Department was already on scene, and the U.S. Coast Guard was contacted and assumed responsibility for the search and rescue, troopers said. The Coast Guard suspended its active search on Saturday afternoon. 

Multiple groups of volunteers, including the Alaska Mountain Rescue Group and Alaska Dive Search Rescue and Recovery Team, searched on Saturday and Sunday, troopers said.
