Board Of Game Wrangell Meetings To Take Place From January 22-27

Alaska Board of Game Meetings scheduled in Wrangell, January 22 – 27, 2026

The Alaska Board of Game (board) will conduct its annual Work Session and the regulatory meeting for the Southeast Region, January 22-27, 2026. The meetings will be held in Wrangell at the James and Elsie Nolan Center, located at 296 Campbell Way. The board’s annual Work Session will occur January 22, 2026 starting at 9:00 a.m., followed by the five-day Southeast Region meeting. Both meetings are open to the public, but public testimony will only be taken during the Southeast Region meeting.

Topics scheduled for the Work Session include election of officers, setting the 2026-2027 meeting cycle dates and locations, and agency reports.  All meeting material for the Work Session, including the agenda and meeting notice will be available online at: https://www.adfg.alaska.gov/index.cfm?adfg=gameboard.meetinginfo&date=01-22-2026&meeting=wrangell

During the five-day, Southeast Region meeting, the board will consider nearly 70 proposals related to hunting and trapping regulations for Game Management Units 1 through 5.  Proposals were submitted by the general public, local fish and game advisory committees, and the Alaska Department of Fish and Game.  

All portions of the meetings are open to the public and a live audio stream will be provided on the board website at https://boardofgame.adfg.alaska.gov. Public Comments: The board encourages the public to provide comments to assist in its decision-making process on the regulatory proposals. The comment deadline for the Southeast Region meeting is Friday, January 9; the deadline for the Work Session is January 16, 2026. Comments will also be accepted once the meetings convene.

Written comments will be posted on each board meeting webpages provided above. Once the meetings begin, written comments will be accepted online at https://boardofgame.adfg.alaska.gov, via fax to 907-465-6094, and may be submitted in person at the meeting. Comments submitted during the meetings are limited to ten single-sided/five double-sided pages in length from any one individual or group. Comments submissions during the meeting will be logged with a record copy (“RC”) number and distributed to the board and posted on the meeting page. 

Public Testimony:  In-person, oral testimony for the region meeting is expected to begin Friday, January 23, following region and research related reports presented by the Department of Fish and Game. Anyone wishing to testify before the board must sign up at the meeting location before Saturday, January 24, at 10:00 a.m. Public testimony will continue until everyone who has signed up has been given the opportunity to be heard. However, state Fish and Game Advisory Committee and federal Regional Advisory Council representatives may elect to provide testimony later in the meeting. Deliberations on the proposals will begin following public testimony and continue through the remainder of the meeting.
