Board Of Game To Meet Virtually On Jan. 21

The following is courtesy of the Alaska Department of Fish and Game:

The Alaska Board of Game (board) will conduct a work session on Thursday, January 21, 2021 via web-conference, beginning at 9:00 am. The meeting is open to the public, but no oral public testimony will be taken.

Tentative agenda topics include: election of officers; agency reports and updates; board committee assignments; rescheduling the Central/Southwest Region and the Statewide Regulations meetings; approval of the 2021/2022 meeting dates and locations; board findings including renewal of the wolf and bear management policies; informational reports; and any other administrative issues that come before the board. The board may also take up items under a miscellaneous business agenda and may choose to go into executive session. No regulatory action will be taken at the meeting.

For the topic of rescheduling the Central/Southwest Region and the Statewide Regulations meetings, the board postponed these meetings during the November 18, 2020 web-conference and scheduled further discussion at the work session. The board will consider various options including rescheduling the meetings later in the spring and postponing all meeting cycles by one year. If the board choses to reschedule the meetings to the 2021/2022 meeting cycle, the board will also consider if there are issues and proposals that are urgent in nature that must be acted on this spring such as antlerless moose hunt reauthorizations.

Submission of written comments is encouraged. The board is especially interested in hearing comments on the topic of rescheduling the board meetings.  Written comments can be submitted online at www.boardofgame.adfg.alaska.gov; emailed to dfg.bog.comments@alaska.gov (PDF format only); mailed to: ADF&G Boards Support Section, P.O. Box 115526, Juneau, AK  99811-5526; or by fax to (907) 465-6094.

Comments will be accepted and included in the public record until January 21, 2021; however, to assure thorough consideration by the board, they should be submitted by January 15, 2021. Comments will only be accepted after January 15, 2021 if submitted by the above-mentioned email address, fax number, or mail.

The agenda and other meeting documents will be available prior to the meeting on the Board of Game meeting information webpage at: http://www.adfg.alaska.gov/index.cfm?adfg=gameboard.meetinginfo&date=01-21-2021&meeting=wasilla.
