Backcountry Hunters & Anglers On Keeping The Ambler Road Project Out Of Brooks Range

The following is courtesy of Backcountry Hunters & Anglers:

The Brooks Range in Alaska – a wild, untamed landscape cherished by members of Backcountry Hunters & Anglers (BHA) and BHA’s Armed Forces Initiative (AFI) – is once again under threat.

Earlier this year, we celebrated a victory when the Bureau of Land Management denied the permit for Ambler Road – a private mining road that would cut through the heart of Alaska, threatening wildlife, local communities, and the public lands we all hold dear. That decision came after over 14,000 hunters and anglers and 126,000 Americans stood together to oppose this destructive proposal.

Now, a new amendment buried in the Senate’s version of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) could resurrect the 211-mile Ambler Road project, and we won’t stand idly.

For the veterans and service members of AFI, the Brooks Range is more than a landscape—it’s a place of healing, solace, and purpose. And its value is immeasurable, not just for those in uniform, but for all Americans

BHA helped stopped this project before, and with your help, we can do it again.
