ADFG Proposing Subsistence Fishing Regulation Changes For Juneau’s Nova Creek Sockeye

NOTICE OF PROPOSED CHANGES IN THE SUBSISTENCE FISHING REGULATIONS IN NEVA CREEK IN SOUTHEAST ALASKA, OF THE ALASKA DEPARTMENT OF FISH & GAME

The Alaska Department of Fish and Game is proposing to adopt regulation changes that will increase the annual and possession limit for sockeye salmon in Neva Creek from 10 to 20 fish in the subsistence fishery in the Juneau Management Area in District 14.  The commissioner of the Department of Fish and Game, under a delegation of authority issued by the Alaska Board of Fisheries is proposing to adopt this regulatory change that increases the amount necessary for subsistence in Neva Creek as found in 5 AAC 01.745(h)(1)(B)(ii).

The commissioner of the Department of Fish and Game, under a delegation of authority issued by the Alaska Board of Fisheries (board) under AS 16.05.270, proposes to adopt regulation changes in Title 5 of the Alaska Administrative Code (AAC) including the following:

5 AAC 01.745. Subsistence bag and possession limits; annual limits is proposed to be changed to increase the possession and annual harvest limit in Neva Creek for sockeye salmon harvested under a household subsistence salmon permit from 10 to 20 fish as follows:

5 AAC 01.745(h)(1)(B)(ii) is amended to read:

                                    (ii) Neva Creek: the possession and annual limit is 20 [10] sockeye salmon;

The comments must be received no later than 5:00 p.m. on April 21, 2023.

After the public comment period ends, the commissioner of the Department of Fish and Game will either adopt the proposed regulation changes or other provisions dealing with the same subject, without further notice, or decide to take no action.  The language of the final regulations may be different from that of the proposed regulations.  You should comment during the time allowed if your interests could be affected. Written comments received are public records and are subject to public inspection.
