This hunt is intended to support communities impacted by Typhoon Halong’s devastating storm surges in October 2025. The typhoon destroyed homes, displaced over 1,000 residents, and ruined critical subsistence food stores in Yukon- Kuskokwim Delta villages, threatening winter food security.

With the Kuskokwim moose population at the upper end of its management goal in Game Management Unit 18, ADF&G can sustainably provide additional harvest opportunities. These permits, prioritized for subsistence users affected by the typhoon, aim to replenish lost food resources.

Permits will be issued online only at hunt.alaska.gov starting November 5, 2025, at 9:00 AM AKST. Alaska residents who have not harvested a moose since July 1, 2025 are eligible to participate, and must possess a valid Alaska resident hunting license. The bag limit is one moose and the season will be from November 5, 2025, to January 15, 2026, season. Proxy hunting is allowed for this hunt.

All successful hunters must report within 5 days either, online at hunt.alaska.gov, by calling (907)543-2433, by mail, or at the Bethel Fish and Game office. Unsuccessful hunters and those that did not hunt must report by January 31, 2026.

All other moose hunting regulations in Unit 18 remain unchanged by this advisory announcement.
