Game Management Unit 2 Wolf Season Discussion

(Ketchikan) –The Alaska Department of Fish and Game invites the public to a meeting to discuss the upcoming Game Management Unit (GMU) 2 wolf season length. We encourage trappers, hunters, and interested community members to join us on Monday, October 27th from 6:00–8:00pm at Generations Southeast in Klawock (6565 Boundary Rd, Klawock, AK).

In GMU 2, most wolves are harvested by trapping. To ensure a sustainable harvest, state and federal managers use an adaptive management strategy, by varying trapping season length. Since the plan’s implementation in 2019, the season length has varied from 21–62 days, resulting in annual harvests of 62– 164 wolves.

ADF&G will present the most recent GMU 2 wolf population estimate, season length for 2025, and answer questions. This meeting is available via Microsoft Teams or by calling at the link and phone number below: Microsoft Teams
