ADFG Announces Delay In Distributing Big Game Harvest Tickets

Status of Hunting and Trapping Regulations for 2026-2027 and Delayed Harvest Tickets

Regulations adopted by the Alaska Board of Game at the Southeast and Southcentral regional meetings during winter 2026 are not yet in effect. Hunters and trappers should continue to use 2025-2026 regulations until the department announces the new regulations have been finalized.

As of today, the regulations adopted at the regional meetings are in legal editing by the Department of Law. There is not an estimated timeline for regulation completion. This delay does not impact Mulchatna Caribou Intensive Management as those regulations were finalized in late April 2026.

There is a delay in shipping hard copies of 2026-2027 harvest tickets (moose, caribou, sheep, deer, black bear) to DWC offices and vendors. Hunters may obtain 2026-2027 harvest tickets online at hunt.alaska.gov. Harvest tickets are in transit to Alaska and will be delivered to DWC offices and shipped to vendors as soon as possible. The delay is due to a printing problem and slower shipping times than in previous years.

Hunters may visit an Alaska Department of Fish and Game office for assistance in obtaining harvest tickets online. DWC will make a follow-up announcement when regulations are finalized, and harvest tickets have been distributed and are available.
