ADFG Announces Closures For Two Unit 22 Moose Hunts

State Closes Resident and Nonresident RM840 Moose Hunt in 22C

(Nome) – The Alaska Department of Fish and Game announces an emergency order to close the state resident and nonresident moose hunt by registration permit RM840 in the Unit 22C hunt area. The state resident and nonresident hunting season for bull moose by registration permit RM840 in Unit 22C closes at 11:59 p.m. on September 2, 2026.

The Alaska Board of Game established a moose registration permit hunt in Unit 22C which is administered with a quota to prevent overharvest. The harvest quota of 30 bulls is expected to be met by the season closing date announced in this emergency order and no further harvest is warranted.

The closure in Unit 22C is additive to the RM840 season closure previously announced for Unit 22D Remainder. This closure does not affect the remaining registration permit hunt RM840 hunt areas: Unit 22B West of the Darby Mountains, Unit 22D Kuzitrin Drainage, and Unit 22D Southwest.

All other moose hunting regulations in Unit 22 remain unchanged by this emergency order.

(Nome) – The Alaska Department of Fish and Game announces an emergency order to close the state resident moose hunt by registration permit RM840 in the Unit 22D Kuzitrin Drainage and Unit 22D Southwest hunt areas. The state resident hunting season for bull moose by registration permit RM840 in Unit 22D Kuzitrin Drainage and Unit 22D Southwest closes at 11:59 p.m. on September 3, 2026.

The Alaska Board of Game established a moose registration permit hunt in Unit 22D within the Kuzitrin River drainage and Unit 22D Southwest which is administered with a quota to prevent overharvest. The fall harvest quota of 27 bulls is expected to be met by the season closing date announced in this emergency order and no further harvest is warranted.

The closure in Unit 22D Kuzitrin Drainage and Unit 22D Southwest is additive to the RM840 season closures previously announced for Unit 22C and Unit 22D Remainder.

This closure does not affect the remaining registration permit hunt RM840 in the Unit 22B West of the Darby Mountains hunt area. All other moose hunting regulations in Unit 22 remain unchanged by this emergency order.
