Deadliest Catch Captains Make Mask Wearing PSA

Deadliest Catch, Discovery Channel’s popular series that will begin its 17th season this spring on Discovery and Discovery Plus, and with the COVID-19 pandemic still raging – even as vaccines begin to offer hope – the importance of wearing masks hasn’t been lost on Deadliest Catch’s skippers such as former subjects of profiles in ASJ, Josh Harris and Sig Hansen, who will be part of a PSA on the subject this week on Discovery Channel. Being a ship captain means being prepared for just about anything – even a global pandemic. The CDC partnered with Discovery for a PSA featuring the stars of “Deadliest Catch,” which remains one of cable’s highest-rated series and will return this spring for its landmark 17^th season on Discovery and discovery+. The spot, which was shot in Dutch Harbor, Alaska, with Captains Sig Hansen and Josh Harris, encourages the importance of wearing a mask as they take on one of the world’s most deadly jobs.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) worked directly with Discovery on developing the spot, which airs on Discovery starting later this week. Here is a sneak peek look:
