Wasilla Board Of Game Meeting Set For January 9-17

Alaska Board of Game Meeting scheduled in Wasilla, January 9 – 17, 2025
The Alaska Board of Game (board) will conduct its annual Work Session and the regulatory meeting for the Central and Southwest Region, January 9-17, 2025. The meetings will be held in Wasilla at the Best Western Lake Lucille Inn, located at 1800 W. Lake Lucille Drive. The board’s annual Work Session will occur January 9, 2025 starting at 1:30 p.m., followed by the eight-day Central and Southwest Region meeting. Both meetings are open to the public, but public testimony will only be taken during the Central & Southwest Region meeting.
Topics scheduled for the Work Session include election of officers, setting the 2025-2026 meeting cycle dates and locations, and agency reports. Topics for the Central and Southwest Region meeting concern over 80 regulatory proposals related to hunting and trapping regulations for Game Management Units 9, 10, 11, 13, 14A, 14B, 16 and 17. Proposals were submitted by the general public, local fish and game advisory committees, and the Alaska Department of Fish and Game. Public Testimony: Following opening business on Friday, January 10, the board will receive region and research related reports presented by the Department of Fish and Game, followed by in-person, oral testimony. Anyone wishing to testify before the board must sign up at the meeting location before Saturday, January 11, at 10:00 a.m. Public testimony will continue until everyone who has signed up has been given the opportunity to be heard. However, state Fish and Game Advisory Committee and federal Regional Advisory Council representatives may elect to provide testimony later in the meeting. Deliberations on the proposals will begin following public testimony and continue through the remainder of the meeting.
Public Comments: Written comments submitted by the announced deadlines will be posted on each board meeting webpage provided above. Once the meetings begin, written comments will be accepted online at http://boardofgame.adfg.alaska.gov. Written comments can also be submitted in person at the meeting, or via fax to 907-465-6098. Comments submitted during the meetings are limited to ten single-sided/five double-sided pages in length from any one individual or group. Comments submissions during the meeting will be logged with a record copy (“RC”) number and distributed to the board and posted on the meeting page.
