State Closing Tier II Moose Hunt In Unit 15C

TM549 Moose Season Closure

(Homer) – The November season of state Tier II permit hunt TM549 for moose in Unit 15C will close at 11:59 P.M. on Thursday, October 31, 2024. All other moose hunting seasons in Unit 15 are unaffected by this Emergency Order.

The Alaska Board of Game established a Tier II moose permit hunt south of Kachemak Bay which is administered by quota to prevent overharvest. With limited population data, the department has set a harvest quota at 3 bulls based on historic sustainable harvest. As of September 20, 2024, 4 bulls have been taken in this hunt. No further harvest is warranted from this population.
