State Extends Winter Moose Hunt RM843 in Unit 22B West

(Nome) – The Alaska Department of Fish and Game announces an emergency order to extend the State resident moose season in Unit 22(B), that portion west of the Darby Mountains, by registration permit hunt RM843 (Note: this area is identified as the Remainder of Unit 22(B) in the hunting regulations booklet). The RM843 season will remain open until 11:59pm on February 28, 2026 or when the quota is met.

Permits for RM843 will continue to be available in person only at vendors in White Mountain and Golovin.

Given that the current reported harvest is below what is sustainable for the area, and that 9 of 16 antlered bulls have been harvested, additional harvest can be sustained. If the quota is met before the season date announced in this emergency order, additional emergency orders will be announced to close the season and prevent overharvest.

All other moose hunting regulations in Unit 22 remain unchanged by this emergency order.
