(Petersburg) – The Alaska Department of Fish and Game, Division of Sport Fish, announced today the sport fishing regulations for Wrangell Narrows/Blind Slough Terminal Harvest Area, described as all waters from 56° 46’N. lat. and north and east of the northern tip of Woewodski Island at 56° 36’ N. lat., 132° 59’W. long to a line upstream of Crystal Creek (see map below).

The following regulations will be in effect Friday, May 15 through Saturday, August 15, 2026:

  • Resident anglers: 2 king salmon per day, 2 in possession, any size.
  • Nonresident anglers: 1 king salmon per day, 1 in possession, any size.
  • Nonresident annual limit: 2 king salmon, any size.
    • Harvest within the terminal area does not count toward the nonresident annual limit established for the marine waters of Southeast Alaska outside of the terminal area.

BLIND SLOUGH – upstream of a line between Blind Point and Anchor Point to a line at Blind River Rapids:

  • Bait is allowed.
  • Snagging or attempting to snag is prohibited.

BLIND SLOUGH – upstream of a line at Blind River Rapids to a line upstream of Crystal Creek.

  • Closed to sport fishing.

Anglers are reminded that they may not possess more than the daily bag limit nor a smaller size than what is allowed within the area in which they are fishing. For example, if retaining a king salmon less than 28 inches in length within the terminal area, that angler should not then fish outside the terminal area where a king salmon minimum size limit of 28 inches is in effect.

In 2026, the projected Crystal Lake Hatchery king salmon return to the terminal harvest area of Wrangell Narrows/Blind Slough is 2,300 adult king salmon.
