Registration Moose Permit RM583 available in Bristol Bay communities

(Dillingham) The resident-only registration permit RM583 valid for any-bull moose in Game Management Units 17B&C are currently available in person in Dillingham at the Alaska Department of Fish and Game (ADF&G) office through August 31.

Additionally, RM583 permits will be available from department staff in the following Nushagak River communities:

Ekwok and Koliganek – Saturday, August 3, 2024 New Stuyahok – Sunday, August 4, 2024 Manokotak – Tuesday, August 6, 2024

The RM583 season opens August 20 and closes September 15. Successful hunters are required to report to the Dillingham ADF&G office (phone: 907-842-2334) or online within 5 days of killing a moose. All permit reports must be returned to ADF&G, regardless of success, within 15 days of the close of the season.

Last year RM583 was extended 5 days to September 20 by Emergency Order due to lack of harvest. This was primarily driven by warm weather and storms early in the season. While Department staff can extend seasons as necessary to meet harvest objectives. Hunters should not expect to have a lengthened fall season this year.

It is important that any hunt permittees return their fall hunt reports to provide wildlife managers the information they need to understand harvest by mailing in their paper reports, completing them online at https://secure.wildlife.alaska.gov/index.cfm?fuseaction=interperm.enter_report_hunterid, or in person at any Alaska Department of Fish and Game office.
