Kenai Peninsula Lynx Seasons, Units 7 & 15

(Soldotna) – Lynx trapping and hunting seasons in Game Management Units 7 & 15 will be open December 15, 2026 through February 28, 2027. The trapping season has no bag limit while the hunting season has a bag limit of two (2) lynx. Observations and sealing records indicate lynx populations on the Kenai Peninsula remain at a level that justifies continued opening of lynx trapping and hunting seasons this year in Units 7 and 15. Based on harvest patterns and sealing data observed over the last 6 years, there is an increased likelihood of trapping season closure next year (RY27) as lynx populations approach the low point of their cycle.

There is an error in the printed version of the 2026-2027 Alaska Trapping Regulations booklet. Page 28 incorrectly lists the lynx trapping season start date as January 1 instead of December 15. These corrections have been made to the online version of the 2026-2027 trapping regulations.
