Caribou Registration Hunt RC080 Hunt Closes

(Kodiak) – Caribou hunters on Kodiak Island have had good success and have reached established harvest objectives in the RC080 registration permit hunt. Consequently, caribou hunting by registration permit RC080 will close by emergency order on Friday, October 17, 2025, at 11:59 p.m.

The most recent aerial survey resulted in a minimum count of 248 caribou in the RC080 registration hunt area. The Department set the maximum allowable harvest at 10 bull caribou. The current reported harvest is 12. This emergency order closure is necessary to limit harvest and allow for continued population growth.
