Sockeye Limits Increased In Kodiak’s Upper Station (South Olga Lakes)
Upper Station Sockeye Salmon Bag Limit Increased
(Kodiak) – To allow increased sport fishing harvest opportunity for sockeye salmon, the Alaska Department of Fish and Game (ADF&G) is increasing the bag and possession limits for sockeye salmon to 10 fish in the South Olga Lakes drainage, more commonly known as Upper Station, effective 12:01 a.m. Wednesday, August 21 through 11:59 p.m. Tuesday, December 31, 2024.
“The late Upper Station sockeye run is very strong this season and it is projected that the biological escapement goal will be exceeded,” stated Area Management Biologist Tyler Polum. “The run is well above average and it’s good to provide additional harvest opportunity of sockeye salmon in the area.”
ADF&G staff monitor this run at the Upper Station salmon counting weir and weir counts are posted on the ADF&G website daily.
