Kodiak Charter Operator Meeting Set To Begin On June 5
The following press release is courtesy of the Alaska Department of Fish and Game:
eLogbook Charter Operator Meeting and Outreach in Kodiak
(Kodiak) – The Guide Registration and Logbook Program will be hosting an eLogbook information and training meeting in Kodiak on June 5th and providing drop-in 1:1 training for the eLogbook all day June 6th. The information and training meeting will be from 6 – 8 p.m. in the ADF&G building in the Chiniak conference room upstairs on June 5th and the opportunity for one-on-one training will be downstairs in the Karluk conference room from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. on June 6th.
As was noted in the 2023 letter to the industry and the recent eLogbook Advisory Announcement, eLogbooks will be mandatory for all saltwater charter activity in Alaska beginning in 2025. The success of the 2021 requirement in Southeast Alaska has been the primary driver behind the shift to Statewide electronic reporting for saltwater charter operators. To assist in this transition, we are conducting virtual and in-person outreach during the 2024 and 2025 seasons.
Some things of note about eLogbooks based on frequently asked questions:
- Continuous internet is not needed to use the application.
- Submissions are still bi-weekly. Daily uploads are not required, though are recommended.
- ADF&G does not provide tablets. The apps work on all smart devices (phones, tablets, laptops).
- Backup paper logbooks are still issued to register your vessels and provide a backup reporting tool.
- ADF&G is available for technical support issues.
