Pat will show you to your room, furnished with quilts she made herself during the long winters in Alaska. She’ll tell you all the bed and breakfast rules (no smoking inside, no pets) and will ask you about your personal food preferences so that she can treat you to a spectacular breakfast.
She will also help you find what you’re looking for from your lodging in Homer. Whether you’re looking to explore the beautiful Alaskan the scenery, take in the wildlife, embark on a fishing or sightseeing tour, or get local suggestions on things to do and places to eat your lunch or evening meal, Pat will be more than happy to help you out. If you’re a nature buff or love fishing, you’re in for a treat! Homer is the halibut fishing capital of the world, and the Homer area is absolutely gorgeous.

We have an unobstructed view of Kachemak Bay and the Glaciers on the southern shore and to be on the “Bench” where Spring arrives 3 weeks (or more) earlier than the higher elevations….and that’s exactly what we have at Crane’s Rest. Our 62 foot deck has protected inset patios at both ends where you can have your morning coffee, visit with your hosts and/or other guests and watch the wildlife or just enjoy the view of the bay. In recent years we have had at least one cow moose with her calves in the area around Memorial Day as well as a nesting pair of Sand Hill Cranes that bring their colts to our yard to feed.
We offer a hearty full breakfast at 8:00 am, and for all you early risers we have coffee available at 7:00 am. Our dining room and kitchen are located on the second floor along with our 62 foot deck to give you breathtaking views of Kachemak Bay and Grewingk Glacier. If you are leaving early to go on a excursion let us know the day before and we will prepare a to go breakfast for you that can be heated up in the microwave. All rooms are non smoking but smoking is allowed outside
