Here’s more from Defend Bristol Bay about what you can do to help on #GivingTuesday:
Wow! Last week delivered a massive step toward protecting Bristol Bay! For years, Alaskans have voiced their opposition to Pebble and your voices are being heard and having an impact! A win like this should be celebrated by each and every one of you. We can’t state it enough: We cannot do this work without you! I know we’re all excited about this win. With the year we’ve had, a victory like this brought a bright spot to a year filled with a lot of lows. Take the time to be excited and to pat yourself on the back. We earned this! However, we can’t forget that there is more work to be done. We need lasting protection for Bristol Bay if we really want to prevent Pebble Mine from coming back. That’s why we are asking for your support this Giving Tuesday. Donate to Defend Bristol Bay!
We need to be able to target and push the EPA in the new year towards Clean Water Act protections. If 2016 taught us anything, a change in administration can change everything when it comes to the EPA and the permitting system.
Hopefully this latest change in administration will be positive for Bristol Bay and for Alaska! In the new year, we will have a chance to push the EPA to enact the Clean Water Act. By using the Clean Water Act, specifically section 404(c), the EPA could use its “Veto Authority” to prohibit, restrict, or deny the discharge of dredged or fill material at defined sites in waters and wetlands of the United States. These restrictions would help create an area wide set of restrictions to protect Bristol Bay from Pebble and other mining in that deposit. Donate Today – Assure lasting protections for Bristol Bay!
This is our chance to be proactive against this dangerous mine! We have this foreign mining company on the run and we need to finish chasing them out of Alaska for good. We need Clean Water Act protections to be placed on Bristol Bay and we need your support to make it happen.Donate today and help us VETO Pebble Mine!
Thank you for your endless support,Defend Bristol Bay
