New Leader In Valdez Halibut Derby: 285.5

We have a new leader in the clubhouse – er, boathouse? – in the Valdez Halibut Derby. Here’s a little more:

On July 26, 2018, Patricia Johnson of Clovis, California, reeled in a 285.5 pound halibut aboard the Harvester (see photo above). Catching this fish put her in first place in the overall standings, putting Doug Cranor in second. Johnson also holds first place in the week ten standings.
